How to obtain with precision the intended carat and the wished appearance ensuring the hardness and a relative uniformity on thicknesses up to 300 microns, is the central problem. Above all, is needed a gold bath of extremely high quality, with a plating efficiency that varies in good continuity in function of the two piloting magnitudes: the current density and the temperature. Also indispensable are very accurate automatic weighings and a sophisticated calculation system taking into account the area variation and the Archimedes force and adjusting the non linear efficiency curve after each new stage.
